Kook Lake is located 28 km southwest of Juneau on the east coast of Chichagof Island, in the Sitka C-3 and C-4 quadrangles (fig. 1). Chichagof Island (Russian: Остров Чичагова), or Shee Kaax, is an island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Alaska 75 miles ( km) long and 50 miles (80 km) wide, it has a land area of 2, square miles (5, km 2), making it the fifth largest island in the United States and the th largest island in the world. Location: ABC islands of Alaska. The lake is 2 miles long and has an elevation of about 50 feet. The approach in and out is an easy one with no obstacles. With the entry to the east the wind situation on the lake should be acceptable. Recreation: Visitors enjoy hiking on a network of old logging roads of the the Corner Bay road system near the cabin.
